ABOUT ME

I am a board-certified nurse-midwife and advanced practice nurse with over a decade of experience in women’s health, reproductive care, and mental health. I bring a unique blend of expertise in both obstetrics and psychiatry, with a special focus on psychopharmacology for individuals navigating life transitions, reproductive challenges, and mental health concerns.

My career has spanned through labor and delivery nursing, academic teaching, and specialized perinatal mental health work. I’ve supported patients in hospital, outpatient, and community settings, and I am especially passionate about providing trauma-informed, evidence-based care. I also have experience working with refugee and immigrant populations, offering culturally sensitive support for adjustment disorders, trauma recovery, and the mental health impacts of resettlement.

I empower my patients to be informed advocates of their care. I achieve this by gently guiding them to make knowledgeable and educated decisions. I do not push, but rather use your strengths to empower you to make the best decision for you. I gravitate to a holistic approach to mental health care. Using this approach to care, I support some of the most vulnerable populations in their medical decisions; often the groups who are dismissed or overlooked by other medical providers such as marginalized communities, those struggling with substance use during pregnancy, families experiencing a pregnancy or infant loss, and survivors of trauma.

MEDICATION SUPPORT WITH COMPASSION & COLLABORATION

I believe in collaborative prescribing—working with you to create a treatment plan that prioritizes your mental health while respecting your values, culture, and life stage. I understand that deciding whether to take medication can be overwhelming, especially during pregnancy or postpartum. My approach blends evidence-based, and the latest on psychiatric medications with an emphasis on compassion, flexibility, and person-first approaches.

Together, we will weigh the benefits and risks, including the risks of untreated mental health conditions, to find the option that best supports both you and your family. My goal is to help you feel safe, empowered, and truly heard in your care decisions.
