ABOUT ME
After 13 years of working as an attorney, and my own transformative experience with postpartum mental health challenges, I feel called to transition into a career in maternal and reproductive mental health.
I’m currently a second-year graduate student at The University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy and Practice. I’m also a proud graduate of The University of Chicago Law School and The University of Missouri, where I received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I have two years of experience facilitating support groups through Postpartum Support International and certified in the diagnosis and treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMH-C). During my first year internship, I provided individual therapy sessions and designed and facilitated a support group for working moms at the Perinatal Mental Health Center of Chicago.
THERAPEUTIC FOCUS AND APPROACH
My therapeutic approach is holistic and strengths-based. I am an eternal optimist and like to end each session on a positive note, giving clients an opportunity to practice gratitude even in the most challenging times. This empowers clients to remember their personal strengths and focus on internal resiliencies.
I especially enjoy working with first-time parents, parents of only children (or who are considering whether to have more than one child), parents dealing with work/life balance challenges, and people going through major life transitions, whether into parenthood, a new career, or a new phase of life.
Whether an expected change, like having a baby, or a sudden event, new stages often have new beginnings. I am passionate about helping clients adjust to a shift in identity, find meaning in all stages of life, and tap into the healing power of relationships and community. I engage with clients through life’s big-picture questions about purpose, ambition, and sense of self, but also equip clients with actionable coping tools to battle depression, anxiety, overwhelm, and other symptoms. Whatever it is, you won’t have to do it alone.
Still feeling unsure? This complimentary screening tool is the quickest and easiest way to determine whether you are experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition. I also offer sliding scale options; ask our intake department to learn more!
